Mother and Child Health Association (MACHA) was founded in 2016 and is a Swedish non-profit organization that works towards improving women’s and children’s health. Our main areas are healthcare and education. MACHA has ongoing projects in Kolkata and West Bengal (India) in collaboration with its partner organization Institute for Indian Mother and Child (IIMC) (http://iimcmissioncal.org) and in Sweden though several Global Health Projects. Currently, we are starting up a new collaboration in Ethiopia.

Our team is based at medical university Karolinska Institutet in Stockholm. Local IIMC groups exists at medical universities in Uppsala, Örebro, Linköping, Lund and Umeå. These groups work with IIMC only, in collaboration with the International Federation of Medical Students Associations (IFMSA) (https://www.ifmsa.se).

Our team in Stockholm comprises students and professionals with different backgrounds. We all share a passion for Global Health and have a strong team spirit. We work voluntarily and meet for team meetings at Karolinska Institutet twice a month.

We are now opening several positions in our Stockholm based team and are looking for engaged volunteers with an interest in Global Health to join us!

PR Manager (2 positions)

Position 1: PR Manager for MACHA

As PR Manager for MACHA you will be responsible for the coordination and strategic planning of PR, mostly at Karolinska Institutet.

Your responsibilities:

✓ Coordination of all PR material such as flyers, posters and roll-ups at Karolinska Institutet.

✓ Strategic planning of all PR in collaboration with our team of PR Managers.

Your qualifications:

You want to gain experience in working with a non- profit organization. You have an interest in PR, design or creativity. You are a student at Karolinska Institutet and have time to work voluntarily approximately 6 hours/month.

Position 2: PR Manager for Ethiopia

As PR Manager for Ethiopia you are responsible for the coordination and strategic planning of PR for our new partnership with Ethiopia.

Brief information about Ethiopia: MACHA has recently established a partnership with Ethiopian Cheshire, a non profit organisation that runs several rehabilitation clinics for children, located in Addis Abeba and around. MACHA is sending two volunteers/year, either physiotherapist or occupational therapists students, to spend 30-45 days as volunteers at the rehabilitation centers. Flight tickets, accommodation, visa, insurance and vaccines are being covered by our partners. Common diagnoses for the children are CP, spina bifida, post polio and amputations. http://cheshireservicesethiopia.org

Your responsibilities:

Your qualifications:

You want to gain experience in working with a non- profit organization. You have an interest in PR, design or creativity. You are a physiotherapist student at Karolinska Institutet and have time to work voluntarily approximately 6 hours/month.

Vice Director

As Vice Director for MACHA you will lead the team together with the Director.

Your responsibilities:

✓ Oversee and plan the organization’s activities throughout the year.

✓ Strategic and financial planning of different global health projects.

✓ Manage the organization’s internal and external communications including maintaining international partnerships with India and Ethiopia.

✓ Represent the organization at events.

Your qualifications:

You have a strong interest in global health and wants to gain experience in working with a non- profit organization. You have experience in project management. You should preferably be a student or professional at Karolinska Institutet and have time to work voluntarily approximately 6 hours/week.

Secretary

As Secretary for MACHA you will be responsible for administration tasks.

Your responsibilities:

✓ Take meeting notes, prepare protocols and support and organize administration.

Your qualifications:

You are an organized person who are curious about global health and wants to gain experience in working with a non- profit organization. You have the time to work voluntarily approximately 1 hour/week.

Social Media Manager

As Social Media Manager for MACHA you are responsible for the organization’s social media accounts and activities.

Your responsibilities:

✓ Monitor and manage our social media accounts (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram).

✓ All updates on social media including events, announcement and information.

Your qualifications:

You want to gain experience in working with a non- profit organization. You have experience in working with social media and time to work voluntarily approximately 2 hours/week.

Event Manager

As Events Manager for MACHA you are responsible for strategic and logistic planning of events.

Your responsibilities:

✓ Strategic and logistic planning of events, such as seminars, lectures, bakesales and yoga events at Karolinska Institutet.

✓ Collaborating with other organizations around these events.

✓ Represent MACHA at events.

Your qualifications:

You want to gain experience in working with a non- profit organization. Previous experience in event or project management is a plus. You are a student at Karolinska Institutet and have time to work voluntarily approximately 2 hours/week.

IIMC Project Coordinator

As IIMC Project Coordinator for MACHA you are responsible for the overall coordination of the IIMC Project in Sweden.

Your responsibilities:

✓ Oversee and coordinate the different IIMC local groups in Sweden (Stockholm, Linköping, Örebro, Umeå, Skåne and Uppsala) through monthly Skype meetings.

✓ Represent MACHA in the IFMSA Stockholm board.

✓ Represent MACHA and IIMC at IFMSA national weekends.

Your qualifications:

You are a student at Karolinska Institutet and want to gain experience in working with a non-profit organization. You are good at networking and have experience in working with Global Health. You are preferably a former IIMC Volunteer or have worked as a volunteer in a low-income country and have time to work voluntarily approximately 4 hours/week.
